May 1, 2008: The CBCI Commission is organising a Seminar on ‘SOCIAL SECURITY OF UNORGANISED WORKERS AND UNION BUDGET 2008 AT CBCI Centre Gole Dakkhana, Ashok Place, New Delhi

On May 5, 2008:
‘The CONFERENCE OF VARIOUS CAMPAIGN GROUPS SUCH AS DALITS, ADIVASIS, FOREST PEOPLE, HAWKERS & VENDERS, FISH WORKERS; MOVEMENTS; TRADE UNIONS AND OTHER GROUPS WORKING FOR SOCIAL SECURITY PROTECTIONS OF UNORGANISED INFORMAL WORKERS’. To consider organising joint actions targeting general election to create nation-wide and compelling pressure for achieving social security rights for unorganised and informal workers. Many national network organisations, core groups working for dalits, adivasis, forest people, women, fish workers, agriculture workers, hawkers and vendors, peoples movements on issues of displacement and migrants, SEZs, domestic workers etc campaigning and organising demonstrations and other actions to pressurise government for right-based, non-contributory, comprehensive social security law will discuss and formulate strategies on convergence of efforts and actions programmes to build compelling pressure on the government for social security protection of 423 million workers. It will forge unity for campaign and movement of deprived classes.
